What Top Teachers Know
Texas State Board for Educator Certification Provider #500703

Based on her research for Top Texas Teachers ( Republic of Texas Press , 2002) Dorothy inspires educators to develop the characteristics they share with the best in the profession.
Hundreds of great teachers were nominated by their students, the parents of students and other teachers to be included in Top Texas Teachers. Every application was screened by a group comprised of parents, educators and community leaders. Dorothy then conducted either a face-to-face or telephone interview with each finalist. The committee reconvened to review the results and selected the thirty-five teachers to be profiled in the book.
Every Teacher Can Be Tops!
Although the nominated teachers taught in all types of schools - rural and urban, public and private, large and small, inner city and suburban - and all grade levels from kindergarten through high school, similarities surfaced in attitudes, outlooks and philosophy among the best.
Using props, humor and her own unique insights, Dorothy inspires teachers in this morale-boosting program.
Would You Be a Teacher - Again?
Insights and Inspiration for Educators
Texas State Board for Educator Certification Provider #500703
Featuring original music by renown folk singer Lu Mitchell, Would You Be a Teacher - Again? is an inspirational program designed to encourage teachers in spite of the daily challenges they face.
Problems cannot be solved overnight and challenges cannot be met in a day. How do the actions of teachers affect the challenges that face education? How can educators insure quality education in spite of these challenges?
Inspired by the challenges voiced by teachers interviewed during the research for Top Texas Teachers, Dorothy developed this program to serve as a springboard to stimulate discussion and brainstorming for solutions to shared problems.
Would You Be a Teacher - Again? is an entertaining, yet thought-provoking program designed to help educators focus on immediate concerns while working towards long-term solutions.
Would You Be a Teacher - Again? provides a framework for examining problems without loosing sight of the main goal - providing quality education for students.
Participants will be more prepared for meeting their challenges by
1) Gaining more enthusiasm
2) Developing more problem-solving strategies
3) Becoming more aware of their role in the solution.
Would You Be a Teacher - Again? can be presented as a Keynote (with or without follow-up discussion session) or it can be presented in a comprehensive problem-solving workshop or full-day training session. The participants of Would You Be a Teacher - Again? shape the direction of the program, insuring that their specific needs are met.
